Name: Soma Cruz
Canon: Castlevania - Game series.
Age: 19 as of Dawn
Blurb: Soma Cruz is a young man who discovered he is the reincarnation of Dracula, with all the powers and potential... and thoroughly rejects it, choosing to try to live a normal life.

Personality: Soma is a kindhearted young man who at first was rather non-confrontational and a little on the naive side. As he starts to grapple with the loaded legacy of his power, he started to learn to be more assertive and draw boundaries, while still keeping his trusting nature. He has an unfortunate tendency to be rather impulsive, jumping into action without thinking, and acting on gut instinct, including sneaking off to chase after a cult despite being warned not to. Soma also has a strong sense of responsibility, knowing how his lack of control can be disastrous, and is quick to admonish others for abusing their powers for selfish reasons.

Power: Soma has what's called the "Power of Dominance" - the ability to command and rule over monsters, in terms what it actually means is that when he kills a monster, he has a chance to absorb their soul, using their powers as his own - ranging from things like shapeshifting (Bat, valkyrie, manticores) to summoning elemental powers to breathing underwater and walking through mirrors, to even stranger things like creating really, really spicy curry.

As far as everyone knows, he cannot absorb human souls, and he's NOT willing to test that.

PERMISSIONS

Power Sealing

In Dawn of Sorrow, Soma learns how to create magic seals that allows him to cut someone or something off from their source of power. The effect is total, but for the sake of roleplay, it's temporary. The main purpose of sealing off magic is so Soma could defeat monsters that would otherwise regenerate infinitely.

And if someone gains magical power from simply holding an object, it won't work.

There are five levels of magic seals from One to Five, with Five being used to seal off very high-order demons like Abaddon and Death, and One being an average mage or witch. I estimate a typical Fate-verse Servant would take a Seal level between three and four to work with someone like Gilgamesh and Medea taking a level five, or Hellsing's Alucard is a Five.

So please post here with the following:

Player Name
Character Names:
Do they have Magic/Are they a magical species:
Can Soma seal their power temporarily:
If yes, from a rating of One to Five, how strong must the seal be in order for it to Work?

Misc. Soul Powers
Given Soma can basically use the powers of any monster he kills and absorbs the soul of, it is quite possible he can gain powers that would require permissions. This will bumped and edited when it happens.

-He's 16, and attends Venture High - but people seem to assume he's in his 20s. (This is for Omegafriends Only. On Memes, he's 19 - like Canon)

-His Father owns a Jewelry Shop (Crooks, take note!), but used to do some globe-trotting, it's how he met Soma's mother.

-He's related to Night King/Dracula (and in turn [personal profile] stinglikeabat Joachim) on his mother's side. She's Catalan, with some Slavic-French ancestry.

-Parents Name: Raymundo and Vera Cruz

-Soma can speak Spanish, but it's heavily accented with some Spanglish thrown in and his grammar is atrocious, takes Japanese as his language Elective, barely knows enough not to get lost.

Costume:
-Black High-collar cape, he folds the collar down.

Player Name: Shini
Player Contact: same as Kuja’s app
Characters you have in the game: Kuja

Character Name: Soma Cruz aka “Kresnik”
Character Canon: Castlevania

Canon Background: http://castlevania.wikia.com/wiki/Soma_Cruz/Background
Omegafriends Background: The Night King was an ancient and terrifying Vampire Lord who embraced all the trappings of Supervillainy when superheroes came into being. What is known that he has a terrible hatred of all of humanity and plotted their downfall time and time again – always seem to come back from what should’ve been lethal scenarios for him. That is – until he suddenly died off three months before the game’s timeline – apparently for real.

What is little known that he had mortal wives, and had children with them centuries ago. Soma Cruz is one of his descendants, and did not realize it until one day he’s suddenly yanked off the streets into the offices of the demon lawyers Dewey Cheatum and Howe and presented with an aged trunk, and a will – declaring him the sole heir of The Night King and everything in the trunk is his to do as he pleases.

So he does what every teenager would do in the situation – become a superhero! He picked the name of Kresnik, the mythical “Shaman of White” who battles the evil vampire Kudlak.
Personality: Soma Cruz is for the most part a gentle young man who zealously protects his friends, and cares deeply for people. Far as the game states, he has few friends, but he is dead loyal to those he has and they know he got their back no matter how dangerous the situation is. This caring nature can lead him to extreme recklessness – he will tend to refuse help because he doesn’t want to be a burden, and he tends to leap before he look, landing into much more trouble than if he had actually trust his friends. The young man also has a chivalrous streak, becoming enraged if any girl gets hurt in front of him, no matter how well he knows the person, for example becoming enraged at Graham for attacking Yoko and feeling guilt for not getting to her in time even though it was impossible for him to stop it.

With those he’s close to, he can be a complete dork, quick to laugh, and just as quick to be embarrassed by teasing. Even when he’s humiliated, he doesn’t snap back, suggesting he has a calm temperament and doesn’t take himself too seriously. In Dawn of Sorrow, he demonstrates a slight sarcastic streak, aimed primarily at the resident goofball (and merchant) Hammer, so he can tease just as well as Yoko or Mina, but generally chooses not to. Soma also shows moments that reveal he has a good sense of empathy, able to accurately guess the reason that Julius ditched Yoko at the castle gates and convey in a way that she could understand (she still didn’t like it, but now knew why).

Soma is rather on the naïve side, generally trusting people immediately if they don’t act openly hostile or suspicious. When they betray his trust, he becomes upset, not just at the person, but at himself for being fooled by them – and does not forgive them easily. However, despite how many times he may get his trust displaced, he’s still quick to assume the best of people, being a generally optimistic young man.

As his power in this universe comes from bloodline rather than soul-eating, he does have the ambivalence towards it like he does in canon. In fact, he quite enjoys all his abilities (though the bone toss just weirds him out), and sees no reason not to show off – though he does get offended if people confuse him for an actual vampire.

Powers: Without magic, Soma’s as strong as a typical high school-level athlete, and will attack with punches, kicks and throws, he’s not afraid to pull dirty moves such as throwing dirt if he has to.

Initially with the exception of Witch’s Barrier, Bat Familiar and Bone Toss, all of Soma’s powers comes from the Night King’s gear – but it does unlock his magical potential which will manifest later in play. “The Power of Dominance” as it’s rendered in this game is that once he beats a monster into submission, he can force it to surrender a fraction of power to him, giving him new abilities based on the monster’s ability (a mermaid might allow him to breathe underwater for example), he can only use up to three abilities at a time and can keep them active for no longer than two hours. As powers are gained, they will be detailed in his journal.

Witch’s Barrier: A Weak shield that can block up to five non-magical attacks before it breaks. Magic and things designed to null magic can break through it easily.

Bat Familiar: As it says, he can summon a little bat to follow him around, harass his foes, and scout out an area for him. These are quite ordinary bats with no special powers of their own.

Axe Pull: He can summon an axe from nowhere and toss it – he can do it indefinitely and as his power grows, so does the size of the axe. No one knows where they come from or why he can only summon axes.

The Artifacts of the Night King (anyone with magical powers or vampiric blood can use these items):

-Twilight Cloak: When wearing it, Soma can transform into a small, white bat. He change shapes in an instant, allowing him for quick maneuverability, squeezing into small spaces and long-distance travel.

-Ebony Stone: It can create a large area of complete and unchanging nighttime around it (outside it’d show the celestial bodies as it would be if the sun was down, indoors it’s just pitch-darkness) – about the size of a 10x12 room – more powerful vampires can increase the range. Thankfully the person who holds the stone can see perfectly in the darkness. As one can imagine, this is a very desirable artifact for non-daywalking vampires.

-Crimson Orb: So far, all it seemed to do is activate Soma’s magic, but he gets such a bad feeling from it that he keeps it locked up. It’s eventually going to be involved in a future plot where the Night King tries to take over his body. It has the soul of a dead vampire inside, and seems to empower vampires.

Sample: http://omegafools.dreamwidth.org/473.html?thread=43737#cmt43737

Notes: As noted above, I’d like to eventually run a future plot involving the night king temporarily taking over Soma’ body.

All right, everything below this post belong to other RPGs and has little to do with Route, so feel free to ignore.

He was completely gray and immobile when he was brought to the Sanctuary.

Salome hissed in irritation. "My idiot master... don't worry, those of his soul and his soul's kin are not completely petrified - he will break out of the shell soon enough," The woman explained quickly. "Well, it's back to Tuna and Sunbathing then," She smiled as she slowly started to look more and more feline.

*A message goes throughout the addresses stored in Soma's backup PINpoint, it wasn't the young man everyone knows. The voice was deep, and crisp in a cold, detached manner, whoever - there was a steely edge to it now*

Where is Soma Cruz? He was suppose to return two days ago, and I have not been able to contact him.

Give me permission, and I throw out five words to you and you write what they mean to you. And you can do the same to me.

Here's mine from Bella:

Coat: Pretty distinctive, isn't it? It's the first coat I bought with my own money that my father didn't have a say in it's purchase. And I think because I wore it when my powers were awakened, it had absorbed some of the energy. No matter what happens, it always repairs itself.

Vampire I'm Drac reincarnated, so vampires and me are pretty inevitable. I know there's a few good ones out there, being this is the nexus and all - but I'm a little cautious, especially since I seem to be a magnet for them. And the other stuff... well.

Sword I like swords. But seriously, when I was forced to rely on something other then a pen knife I went through God-knows how many weapons, and I found that the swords work for me, followed by spears if I need the extra reach. An axe doesn't balance well in my hand, and a club and mace seems, I don't know too brutal. And knuckle dusters? No way am I getting that close to a Basilisk!

White I know most people wonder why I wear so much white considering I am an albino. I like the color, it's the color of snow, doves - a tradition of purity in the Western World. Though it's also death in the Eastern Tradition, so I guess that doubles as an intimidation factor. It helps me mentally stand out from the monsters.

Language My best subject. I am fluent in English, Japanese, and Spanish - the latter being my native tongue. Language can be beautiful, how you can express yourself in many ways. It sounds weird, but there's a bit of personality in the different languages - English is rough but expressive, fluid and adaptive, Japanese is layered and song-like, subtle and hidden, Spanish - call me bias, it's passionate, it's strong. I'd honestly like to learn to speak more languages in the future.

White Got a repeat.

Hot Uh... well, guess I might be. I admit I got some leftover self-esteem issues from childhood, not to mention the whole 'catholic guilt complex'.

Glamorous I'm not sure what to think, it's flattering, but I kind of think of the word as feminine. Though I will wholly admit I get my fashion tastes from old Hollywood styles.

Eastern I lived in Japan off and on since I was a kid. My Uncle Fran used to work as a translator for a company. I pretty much assimilated myself into the culture.

Spaniard. I lived in Barcelona for most of my young life. It's beautiful, it's warm - with the beautiful sea and an unique style of buildings. I heard Nick didn't like Discordia - bah on him! Even though I live in Japan full-time, I am still proud of my hertiage.

All right.

Grey's still not getting the hint that he'll be killed on the spot if he tries to take some.

And Dracula is here again.

Please tell me if anything is going on with either of them, updates, warnings, anything.

I need to know.

Once confessing, Soma bowed as he quickly jotted out of the Church, and glanced about - and caught the glimpse of the tall, dark-haired Arikado who stepped into a cab as he gestured up to the mountains.

So that's it, he thought as he quickly hailed the nearest taxi.

"Sorry if this is a bad cliche, but could you follow that taxi?" The young man gestured as the driver first looked at him with confusion - and then a grin appeared on his face.

"Want me to 'step on it'?" The Corsican grinned, showing a mouth of tar-stained teeth.

"No, just be discreet, please." He clarified as he shut the door.

"Ooooh, you think your lover's meeting someone else, is that it?"

"Wha? No, no - that's not it!" Soma exclaimed with some horror as they turned down and followed up the twisting path. The cabbie simply laughed in response as he smoothly tailed the first taxi. The young man swung his feet as he watched the city grow smaller and smaller with each turn up the mountain until the driver stopped.

"Okay, your friend's should be ahead." The swarthy man held out his hand - and Soma quickly placed a wad of money in his hands and exited out, hurrying up on the trail that lead away from the parking lot. He noted that the other taxi was parked towards the far end, the driver was upon the hood - a fat cigar clamped between his lips.

(What is Arikado doing all the way here?) The young man wondered asked he quickly hopped up the old, worn pathway. The trail might have proved troublesome if Soma wasn't used to the much steeper, usually rain-slicked stairway to the White Horse Shrine. The vegetation was mostly squat Mediterranean trees and thick, stubborn bushes that did not hide the spectacular view of the city and the sparkling blue-green sea topped by gentle white foam, however - the albino did not stop to take in the view.

He stopped at the next turn as he caught the indistinct sound of voices. (He's close, I'm not going to let him slip away next time), Soma tried to slip into the brush as quietly as humanly possible in order to better creep upon the owners. It wasn't too long before Arikado loomed into view, the black coat was removed, revealing a white silk shirt, with the sleeves rolled up - his hands had started to weave a complex pattern in the clear mountain air.

(A spell?) The young man questioned himself as he held still, as words - exotic, but somehow familiar echoed with power, the very air crackled around him. Soma's hair stood up on end from the gathered power as the clouds above darkened. (What the hell?!)

With a cry, Arikado raised his left hand with two fingers pointed up and two pointed folded against his palm as his right hand pointed to a particular spot. Lightning suddenly raced against the sky and leaped from cloud to the spot with a brilliant, blinding light and a destructive force of power that flattened nearby trees and scorched the earth. Yet, the man did not flinch, nor was he harmed by the bizarrely specific strike.

Soma groaned as he picked himself from the ground in which he was thrown to, the dots dancing in his vision as he tried to make sense of it all. Then he stiffen as he touched his fingers to his lips. Did he cry out? Most likely.

"Soma Cruz, stop creeping around like a spider and come out." The cool, dark remarked with no small hint of irritation as the black-haired man retrieved his jacket from a crevice and slipped it on.

(Busted) The albino stood up, even as he still tried to blink away the spots before his eyes. "What the heck did you just do?" He asked as he looked at the spot where the lightning had struck, and noticed that underneath the now scorched grass was a slab of granite with some odd, raised design that was now blackened and rend asunder. Soma was reminded of the seals that Yoko had taught him.

"Destroyed a source of power for those men," came the smooth reply as Arikado raised a brow. "Did I not tell you to stay in Kyoto?"

"Who are those men?" Soma ignored the pointed look as color went to his face at the dismissal. "It's my life - like it or not, I am pretty damn sure I want - no, I need the answers! Keeping me in the dark is not going to protect me."

"The Holy Order of the Moorslayers of Santiago. A group of Catholic Seperaists, Mainly Catalans who blamed the church for the suffering under Franco." The man nodded when Soma gave a sound of disgust at the name of the notorious dictator. "They appropriated an old epithet of the saint to mean any non-Catalan, including the church - especially the Vatican. They had been under suspicion for several violent attacks against the Clergy, and some disappearances of unusual circumstances. They went deep into the occult, and became interested in many of the enemies of the church."

"Including Dracula." Soma supplied as he brushed off dirt and leaves from himself. "...So they somehow found out about me, and wanted to use me against the church?"

"I do not believe so." There was actually a puzzled look on the taller man's face.

"Wait... you have no idea?"

"I'm sorry, between you and your friends we only received strange and conflicting information. And they had hidden themselves quite well." He stated as he yanked Soma by the arm. "Now, you're going home."
thedarkheir: (sneaky)
After discussing things with Phoenix, he went against common sense and jumped into investigative mode. The young man had the coordinates set to where Yoko had said she got the call from.

The question is, can he find Arikado if Arikado does not want to be found? And can he keep from being spotted? Soma adjusted the baseball cap over the light, honey-brown wig.

He still look extremely pale, but he was sure with the change of clothes (a colorful World Cup jersey over a green t-shirt and a faded denim jacket over that) on top of the wig that he would not be immediately recognisable. With a tap of the button he shimmered out of sight.

The South of France was warmer then Kyoto, and it was drizzling lightly when he appeared under a bridge. There should be enough people who know Spanish or English to allow him to get by, the young man told himself to stave off the nervous knot that formed in his stomach from being in a strange land by his lonesome. Once he summoned the courage, he stuck his hands in his pockets, he pushed off into the streets of Bastia, his shoulders slumped - trying to look inconspicious.

Someone as tall and striking as Genya should stick out amongst the sun-kissed natives and tourists in loud shirts. Soma had to admit he was 'attractive', and pondered about asking the vendors about him when he noticed the attractive church with two dome-capped belltowers upon a hill.

"Huh..." He glanced up, neck craned as the bells started to ring - two o' clock. Maybe he checked in there? The young man wondered as he started to run in that direction.

...Seriously what the hell?

The nightmares will not stop! They're definitively not normal... did they do something to me?

I'm dreaming that I'm someone else every night, always dying - always at the claws of a monster. And I can no longer be around blood - any kind of blood. I had to go vegatarian or buy pre-cooked meat to get around the nausea.

I'm wondering... I think whoever those cowled freaks are, I think they put in these 'fail-safes' in some stupid attempt to make sure I would never become him! I don't want to be him either, but this is not how I want it to be done!

Is the mental block suppose to prevent me from knowing this... or is there something else? Did I find out who they are?

Hey guys.

I decided to take a quick look over the cooking post Some mentioned, but decided against it for now - I don't have the time with my current Real life obligations, not to mention I tend to run to the nearest distaster, which I don't think is good for anyone teaching, you know?

So still looking for something with flexibility, I'm thinking it'll probably be something comission-based, as much as I don't like the idea.

Yoko tried her hand on seeing if she can pick up something she missed the first time scanning me, and yea - she picked up some magic, but she couldn't tell what it is right off. I'm waiting for the results.

I'm also waiting for the results of my exams, eeps.

Annnyways, to make up for the serious lack of christmas gifts from my end I'm going to stop by the Sanctuary with some food (I'll think of something else for you Jono).

Whelp - textbook prices had gone up, and I'm going to need to get some funds up for some tutoring, completely flunked my math semi-final.

Haet Math. HATE it. Hate, hate, hate, hate, HATE. And now it doesn't even look like a word anymore, guess Hamlet is right on that point.

I think my little nestegg from my stint as a Samba waiter and Weapon auctions might hold out a bit longer, but I'm going to need to find a job - and there's not too many for a college-attending foreign-born young man like me in this economy, though the gem that one girl tossed at me at the Sanctuary might help, but I still need a job. Especially if I'm getting gifts for you guys.

In other news, that god damn box-with-beak is still stalking me, will it actually attack me or can it just go away? All this stalking-stalking nonsense is getting irritating.
thedarkheir: (hand)
He tossed and turned on the bed, the sheets coiled around him like a cocoon that strangled him - restricting his dreaming thrashing.

---

He was running - long shadows loomed from behind him as the forest seemed to close in around him, branches snapping at his faces, roots curled up as though to trip him up. The rolling mists made direction impossible as he fled from the shadowy creatures, panting and struggling to stay on his feet.

Run, run, run! His mind screamed at him as he stumbled onto the damp moss and rotted leaves - too frightened to even glance back at his pursuers. Their rank breath filled his nostrils - foul heat and decaying bodies, the stink of blood they were monsters and they were stalking towards him. The hair on the back of his neck rose as he could feel their presence - closer then ever as the dark shadows took on distinctive forms. Get up! His mind screamed as his body refused to body, paralyzed by dread.

Finally he dared to glance back - and screamed as red eyes and endless rows of teeth descended upon him as he caught a glimpse of himself watching with Sadistic glee.

---

The young man jerked as he found himself suspended three inches off the floor, and his arm yanked uncomfortably above his head at a forty-five degree angle. He jerked in the sheets that kept him hanging - shivering in the cold sweat he was soaked in.

Another nightmare? He thought as he twisted and tried to free himself.
